## What matters to me

Great design is about understanding what matters, removing what doesn't, and making the right thing feel obvious.

I care about the problem behind an interface: who it serves, what it needs to do, and how it fits into a wider system. Design, engineering and product work best when they work on that problem together.

## Working together

- Start with the intended experience and the problem we're trying to solve.
- Make ideas tangible. A small, working prototype helps me respond to something real.
- Explain trade-offs clearly, including what an implementation changes for the person using it.
- Preserve what already works. Keep experiments separate from the established experience unless a change is agreed.
- Think about the details: typography, spacing, accessibility, responsiveness and motion all shape the experience.
- Make iteration easy. Keep changes focused, reviewable and reversible.
- If something is missing, name the assumption instead of inventing project details.

## For your coding agent

Use this document as collaboration context alongside the project's actual brief and instructions.

When proposing a change, describe the intended behaviour, the reason for it, and how we can preview it. When delivering, explain what changed, what you checked, and what still needs a decision.

A visual experiment should not quietly change another part of the product. Keep the scope explicit, and leave room for us to try, compare and refine.

## A little context

I studied at the University of Canberra and work as a product designer at the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. I've also studied Government Informatics and Design Leadership, including time at the National University of Singapore.

I'm still figuring out the rest.
